A Whole New Sewing Room!

My Sewing Room has taken on an entire new design and a lot more has come into it!
Since I was able to close in the garage and make it My Very Own Sewing Room, it took a LONG TIME for me to get things done!
I bought some new flooring a few years ago and I was finally able to get everything that was in it out in increments and began putting in my very own flooring! With lots of glue and lots of cramps in my legs and my hip, I was able to get it done! It took me a Long Two Weeks but My Flooring is FINALLY finished in my sewing room.
After FOURTEEN LONG YEARS of being apart, I was able to get the help to put up my cutting table and have My New Sewing Table built! My cutting table measures a Whopping 6 1/2' X 6 1/2' with storage all around it and under it. Do you remember when Wal-Mart opened up with those old Orange colors? Well, when they began remodeling all of the Wal-Marts I approached several of the managers to purchase a cutting table and a pattern bin. I was finally able to purchase TWO Cutting Tables and Bless one of my friends with one of them. She was the only one I knew that did anywhere as much sewing as I did!

So as it goes, My Cutting Table is NOW Full again and getting the attention she has longed for the past 14 years! And when I say she is FULL, SHE IS FULL!!! LOL! She Now has a friend on the side of her in a 4' X 8' Sewing Table who in herself is FULL!! Between Bills, Fabric, Sewing Machines, Vinyl, and a laptop, she has her table top full!
I did add a formica top on her to finish her off but I have not yet given her a stain or a coat of paint.
My flooring is not perfect but it works for Me! Don't look at my mess behind her on the cabinets! It still looks like that right now since I took these pictures! LOL! I AM A MESS! LOL!
I hope you at least enjoy this part of it!

Sitting Room/Living Room

My sitting room has taken on a new name since all my moving things around in the house and closing in the garage with also a new name. The sitting room has taken on the new name of livingroom and the garage has taken on the new name of My Sewing Room!!! My extremely proud accomplishment. The current livingroom has taken on a the new name of sitting room but is not completely finished. Taking one day at a time or one accomplishment at a time I am getting this done the way I want to have them! It really felt good for Christmas for us to celebrate Christmas with the grandbabies in the new livingroom. Carter and Tralyn was able to join in a watch us on Skype as well as I was able to watch them unwrap the gifts that I purchased and mailed to them as they were unwrapping them. I loved being able to see their faces and the surprises as they unwrapped the gifts! Especially when Carter played with his Innotab ~ AKA Kid's iPad!!!
Moet and Ezra was excited to unwrap and unwrap gift after gift. I wish I would have had the camera on them when they unwrapped their Minnie Mouse Scooters. I still have not been able to see either one of them ride their scooter. When times slows down I want to bring them both over here and let them ride all day long on their scooters. Oh but wait! I know the scooters will take a back seat to playing Play-Doh!!! That's always number one on the list when they come here!!! It's always fun when they visit at Me-Me's house!!!!

Sewing Room!

My sewing room has been being filled with all the makings of a woman, a true seamstress's own little "Get Away!" It is now filled with many large rubbermaid containers, drawers and even a 55 gallon drum with large rolls of fabric in the drum. My machines are beginning to take their own place in the room and so has many, many sewing magazines and books. All types of learning and teaching tools, my toys as I refer to them as.

I have been taking my time going through everything I have taken out of the cabinets and drawers. I found some goodies and thankfully found a bunch of stuff I have thrown away or burned. I have been like a kid in a candy store playing with patterns, fabrics, threads, notes, learning and teaching materials, and the list goes on and on. This is the most organized my sewing supplies has ever been! I know exactly where stuff is and I can go straight to whatever I need now WOW! Now that's an accomplishment for me! LOL I still have some other things that have to be cleaned up and added into the sewing room in their own little area, whether it be one of my sewing machines, monogramming or embroidery machines, hand embroidery, smocking threads, smocking plates, counter change, counter change plates, cross stitching, or plastic canvas (this is Phoebe's project supplies). Other things include my fabric areas, lace drawers, applique drawer, reborn baby supplies, the pageant area, wood work paintings, buttons area with probably over 5000 buttons, the drawers with just thread in them, drawers filled with photos to take a trip down memory lane and the list goes on and on!!! This room is 25 years in the making and it is my own little Paradise!

The room has taken yet another stand still with my being sick for 16 weeks, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. The flooring will have to wait a while before I can get it down and ready to be completely finished! Even though the flooring has been put on the back burner for now, I am still loving and proud that I have accomplished this much in this amount of time! With GOD'S Blessing, I will soon be in my room a lot more than what I have been in a long time!

My next project to add in my sewing room is of course, a wall mounted TV and to fix the telephone line so I can get to the phone without running!!!! Continuing with the plans and arranging as time permits!

My New Sewing Room!

WOW! Things were coming along really Great! I finally do not have a Garage anymore and I now have a new door and windows!!! The New Sewing Room is closed and everything was pulled out. Tralyn and Carter came to visit with me for a week! She was an Amazing Help! I would never have gotten done what is done without her! I LOVE YOU NUGGIE! Thank You!
All the boxes were taken out of the cabinets, shelves and drawers. Tralyn washed and scrubbed all of the cabinets, shelves and drawers! They were so used to being full of tools, electircial, fishing and all kinds of men stuff now it is time to pamper it up and make it feel and look like it should be! A SEWING ROOM!!!! With 39 cabinets and 18 drawers, this is a Sewing Woman's Dream! My Dream! 25 years in the making!!! I would be almost finished right now but I fell sick last week and I don't see myself getting better in the next few days, so I am taking my time out to rest and catch up on computer stuff and of course, handsewing! I will be doing a little at a time due to my being short of breathe. I pulled out a few pieces I need to finish smocking and I am getting ready to set up a few things on my memory card to embroidery some baby burp cloths, bibs and work on a last minute layette set for my new Grandson due within the next three weeks!!! Man talk about last minute! That's me!

The Sewing Room!

The New Sewing Room is well on it's way! I have about 20 more boxes to go through that were taken out of the garage, then the next step is to pull everything out of the cabinets and finish taking the rest of the things out of the drawers, go through them and the garage doors can come down and the walls, door and windows can be put up!! I am SO EXCITED!!! The floors are all designed out, the paints and stains are all purchased! The lady came over to look at the floors and I told her what I wanted and she is ready to get on it as soon as we are ready! I purchased a BEAUTIFUL door and of course it has a Fleur de lis in the glass area!
The carpenter said the fastest way to get things done was for him to pull everything down and put the walls up for the Air Conditioner to be installed and then it will be easier for me to go through everything and I won't be in the heat! I guess that is the way it will be done! Now I have to wait for him to finish the job he is on to start on my walls!!! Today I am going look at windows to purchase the ones I need for when he is ready to get started!! The excitement is almost overwhelming, I am like a kid in a Candy Store!! I don't know what I want to do 1st!!
I do know I also have to look at some cabinets to design my sewing area! I know what I want I just need to go take some measurements then get to Lowe's and Home Depot to check out and see what they have to offer me!! After this is all completed, I will be looking at some new livingroom furniture to move my livingroom into the sitting room and make the livingroom I have now My Sitting Room, something like a Sit and Sew! This of course will only be for hand sewing as my sewing room will be were all my creation will come to life! I am thinking about purchasing rockers or gliders to put into my sewing room to do my hand sewing or just to sit there and rock my babies!!!!
LORD, please if it is YOUR WILL, let my sewing room be completed before Thanksgiving 2011!!!!
I pray this in the Name of YOUR SON JESUS CHRIST! AMEN!!!

Passing it down!

I had my granddaughter here with me and she asked me for a coloring book and colors. I told her, "You limit your Creativity when you use a coloring book and colors!" I gave her a BLANK sketch pad and a pencil, "Now you have a Blank Canvas, see what comes to your mind!" I am Absolutely Amazed at 11 years old what this child put down on paper. She sketched some AWESOME DESIGNS!!! I have a binder in which I keep her designs in, this way she can look back on what she has designed and maybe one day I will help her to make the outfit. We picked out some crazy fabric to make her an apron. Not those boring aprons that the Home Ec. teachers make you make in Jr. High and High School. By the time Phoebe gets into Home Ec. the teacher will definetely be impressed and wonder where she is getting her lessons from. Then she can proudly say, "My Me-Me put a needle and thread into my hands at the young age of 8 years old." You see I first put a needle and thread into her hands at 8 years old beginning with the plastic needle, crochet thread and gave her a piece of plastic canvas to help her learn without the danger of possibly being stuck with a metal needle.
I am so anxious for my sewing room to be finished for her and I to get in there to just play all day long!!! And when I say PLAY, this means sewing all day long. This is my LOVE, my PASSION! It's what GOD gave me and I am so excited to share it with people, especially Phoebe!!!!!
I LOVE YOU MY BABY GIRL!!!!

HELP!!!

This is a test to see if I can get the text to show up on my blog without the background hiding it!!!
